This Privacy Policy describes how the SM Scholars Sprint mobile application ("we", "our", or "us") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
1. Overview
SM Scholars Sprint provides a mobile application for students to access test series, study notes, and academic resources. This Privacy Policy applies to the SM Scholars Sprint mobile application used by students.
2. Who Is Responsible for Your Data?
Your Coaching Institute: Your coaching institute (the one you are enrolled in) is the data controller. This means they decide what information to collect about you, why they collect it, and how long to keep it. They provide student data (names and SMIDs) to us for account creation.
SM Scholars Sprint (App Developer): We (StudyMate) are the data processor. This means we provide the technology (the app and backend) that allows your institute to share academic content with you. We process data on behalf of your institute according to their instructions.
3. What Data Does the App Display?
The SM Scholars Sprint app displays information that your coaching institute has provided for academic purposes. This may include:
- Personal Profile: Name, enrollment number, batch/class
- Academic Records: Test results, marks, assignments, syllabus progress
- Study Materials: Notes, practice tests, mock exams
- Institute Communications: Notices, announcements
4. What Data Does the App Collect Directly?
The SM Scholars Sprint mobile application itself collects limited information:
- Login Credentials: When you log in, your username/email/SMID and password are used to authenticate your account.
- Google Sign-In Data: If you use Google Sign-In, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture (see Section 6).
- Account Deletion Requests: If you submit a request to delete your account, we receive and process it.
The app does NOT access or collect:
- Location data
- Photos, contacts, or files from your device
- Microphone or camera data
- Browsing activity outside the SM Scholars Sprint app
5. Login Methods
SM Scholars Sprint offers three login methods:
📝 Method 1: Direct Registration (Email + Password)
Who uses this? Independent students registering directly through the app.
What is collected: Name, email address, and an encrypted password for secure account authentication.
🔑 Method 2: Google Sign-In
Who uses this? Students who choose to sign in using their Google account.
Information received from Google:
- Name: Used to identify and personalize your account.
- Email Address: Used for authentication and account identification.
- Google Account ID: A unique identifier used to securely link your Google account with your SM Scholars Sprint account.
Privacy Notice: We use the information provided by Google solely for authentication and account access. We do not receive or access your Google password, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, Contacts, Calendar, or any other personal content from your Google account.
🏫 Method 3: SMID (Student Management ID)
Who uses this? Students enrolled in partner coaching institutes.
What is SMID? A unique student identification number assigned by your coaching institute.
How it works:
- Your coaching institute provides your basic student information to StudyMate for account creation.
- StudyMate generates your SMID and creates your account.
- You receive your SMID and a default password.
- You can sign in securely using your SMID and password.
🔐 Important: Your coaching institute may provide the information required to create your account, but it does not have access to your password and cannot log in to your account on your behalf.
6. Where Is Your Data Stored?
All student data is stored on our secure servers that power the SM Scholars Sprint backend system. We implement reasonable security measures including:
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)

- You: You can view your own data through the mobile app.
- SM Scholars Sprint (App Developer): As the technology provider, we have technical access to the servers for maintenance, support, and security purposes. We do not access your personal data except when necessary to resolve technical issues or as required by law.
- Google (OAuth Provider): Processes your login credentials if you use Google Sign-In.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
8. Data Retention
Your data is retained in our systems for as long as your coaching institute requires it for educational and administrative purposes, or as long as your account remains active. If you have questions about how long your data is kept, please contact your institute directly.
